Well here we are at Week 17, the final week of the NFL season, and our last weekly fantasy football salary league of 2012 takes place at DraftDay. This site uses a $100,000 salary cap and the roster consists of 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 K and 1 DST. We always fill the FLEX position with a running back, so that makes it three running backs for us. The site gives 1 full point per reception, and it is the only site we played at this year that gives six points per touchdown pass, so quarterbacks are more valuable than usual. We still went for value at the quarterback spot though as that allowed us to nab a lot of studs at running back and wide receiver.
Here is my DraftDay lineup for the Week 17 Free Flicker Freeroll:
QB – Colin Kaepernick, SF ($12,550) Kaepernick struggled in the deafening noise in Seattle, but he’s back at home this week vs. a dead Arizona team and, as usual, he is always a legitimate rushing threat.
RB – Arian Foster, HOU ($15,950) The Texans need to win to clinch the top seed and Foster is fine after leaving last week’s game with a irregular heartbeat. That is good news vs. a Colts’ team ranked 30th in rushing defense and allowing a disgusting 5.1 yards per carry.
RB – Marshawn Lynch, SEA ($14,150) The Seahawks are playing their regulars and Lynch is in Beast Mode with at least 111 rushing yards in the last three games with five total touchdowns. The Rams have a middle-of-the pack run defense but they allowed 217 yards to Adrian Peterson two weeks ago.
WR – Calvin Johnson, DET ($17,800) The most expensive player in this salary league merits every penny. His final goal is a 2000-yard receiving season, so you can bet the Lions make sure he gets at least the 108 yards required to get it.
WR – Eric Decker, DEN ($12,550) Payton Manning and the Broncos are on fire and they need to win to clinch a first round bye. Decker has 22 receptions for 286 yards and three touchdowns the last three weeks and the Chiefs have nobody to stop him.
TE – Dallas Clark, TB ($6,200) This is sneaky good value as while the Buccaneers look like they have quit, Clark has been targeted an amazing 19 times over his last two games, and he may be going up against Atlanta’s backup defense.
FLEX – Alfred Morris, WAS ($10,800) Our comment regarding Morris last week: “For whatever reason, Morris continues to be undervalued in these weekly salary leagues regardless of the site. This is great value for a guy that is third in the NFL with 1319 rushing yards, not to mention nine touchdowns.” Well, update that to 1410 yards and 10 touchdowns.
K – Garrett Hartley, NO ($5,600) We always go cheap with kickers and the Saints would love to avoid a losing season and finish at 8-8 after an 0-4 start.
DST – Miami Dolphins ($4,000) We always go cheap with defenses and the Dolphins allowed only 13.3 points and 333.7 total yards per game in the last three weeks with four takeaways. Yes they draw the Patriots, but they may not face the New England starters all game.
Total Salary: $99,600
